When the filmmaker Bernadett Tuza-Ritter prepares a project on modern slavery, she meets Marish and a terrible story appears. Marish is 52 years old and lives as a slave in a wealthy home in Hungary. By paying Eta, the wife of the household, Bernadett gets the opportunity to film Marish and her everyday life. Marish works both in the household and in a factory but cannot keep any money, she has to give everything to Eta. Bernadett’s presence, however, gives Marish some comfort and courage, perhaps there is an opportunity to change this locked situation? In the documentary A Woman Captured we get to see a kind of modern slavery that is completely unknown to many people. It is a life without dignity and under terrible circumstances. But we also see how humanity and someone who cares about you can be life changing.
