We are met by a crackling fire and enormous forests. Beautiful landscapes where humans have left their inevitable marks. Gállok is a film about mining in the north of Sweden, its strong economic forces – and the feelings it awakens. Tor Lundberg is a nature photographer and active in the battle against the recently planned mine in Gállok. In addition to the obvious traces the mine would leave in the environment, it would be devastating for the reindeer herding in the area. The mining companies from southern Sweden and the United Kingdom are set against the population of the village, but the locals are also facing each other. Many believe that a mine could save the municipality. In addition to portraying a battle between David and Goliat, Gállok is a loving portrait of a father’s and a daughter’s faith in and work for a common goal.
