Hungary 2018 is a well crafted and thoughtful documentary about the political state of today’s Hungary. The Director, Eszter Hajdú, has followed the final stages of last year’s Hungarian election. Hungary and Poland are the two EU nations that politically have moved far right in the old Eastern bloc. Here it’s Viktor Orbán, the Fidesz party and its election campaign that is in focus. We follow rallies and a series of interviews. In the meantime the opposition, Ferenc Gyurcsany and his Democratic Coalition, is portrayed in a parallell story. There is much to ponder about in this timely documentary, not least: where is the Hungarian youth in the politics?
