Senka Domanovic’s documentary follows the occupation of the closed and privatized cinema Zvezda in Belgrade, Serbia. The action was initiated by young activists and engaged people from many different groups of society. We closely get to follow their commitment and ambition to change society to something better. At the same time the group struggles with internal conflicts in regards to how to reach there. Occupied Cinema is a timely document on urban transformation and the right to public space not governed by commercial interests.

– Daniel Tollefsen Altamirano
