What would the Umeå Film Festival be without Sing Along? For ten festivals, we’ve sung along to some of the world’s most beloved musicals, and now it’s time for Cabaret! Join us on Friday, November 29, for this Oscar-winning classic, combining brilliant acting, spectacular musical numbers, and a dark undertone reflecting the rise of Nazism.
Cabaret, based on Christopher Isherwood’s novel Goodbye to Berlin, takes us to 1930s Berlin, where Sally Bowles, a spirited American singer played by Liza Minnelli, performs at the Kit Kat Klub. Amidst the decadence and nightlife, Nazism is on the rise, creating a stark contrast between entertainment and political unrest.
