Director Kenneth Branagh’s (The Murder on the Orient Express, The Boat That Rocked) new film takes us to his 60’s in the Northern Ireland. It’s a semi-biographical comedy-drama where we get to meet Buddy, a 9-year-old boy who is approaching his teens. Buddy’s carefree life suddenly ends when religious tensions and riots break out outside his door. Suddenly the family is faced with a choice. Should they stop and hope that the conflict will pass? Or should they leave everything they know behind to start a new life? It is an emotional and warm portrait of Northern Ireland where Judi Dench stands for a brilliant role.
