One spring day in 2019, Anna Cecilie Solvik made an important decision: she put on the Nordmørsbunad (a traditional regional costume) and vowed not to take it off until the maternity ward in Kristiansund, Norway, was saved. This marked the birth of the movement known as the Bunad Guerrilla (Bunadsgeriljaen). In the film, we follow activist Anja and the women’s struggle to save maternity care in Norway’s rural and coastal areas.

The Bunad Guerrilla is still active today, gathering tens of thousands of members. It is considered one of the largest grassroots movements in modern Norwegian history, bringing together women from both rural areas and cities. Who are the women behind the movement, and why does this issue resonate with so many people? This film tells the story of the divide between the center and the periphery – the deepest conflict in Norwegian society.
