The film tells the dramatic story about the young philosophy professor Angela Davis, who ended up on the FBI’s “10 most wanted list”. A gripping tale about the events surrounding 1970, when Angela Davis was accused of being involved in a failed kidnapping attempt. Through a mix of archival material and new interviews, the film shows Davis’ intelligence, activism and as one of the icons of the movement for social and political justice.
The film was part of the film festival CinemAfrica’s section “It’s Not A Moment – It’s A Movement, An Affirmation” during the autum of 2020. A representative from the festival will introduce the screening and a presentation will also be held by Anders Jansson, museum curator at Bildmuseet, who talks about the film’s connection to the ongoing exhibition afro-american artist Faith Ringgold.
The screening is free of charge, but require a ticket. Tickets can be collected at the ticket office of Folkets Bio Umeå one hour before the screening
