In December 1984, a Soviet missile crashes in Finnish Lapland, prompting Niina, a single mother and journalist, to investigate the incident. The small village quickly becomes the focal point of a global political drama as authorities attempt to suppress the story. During her investigation, she meets fighter pilot Kai, and their relationship grows more profound. At the same time, her ex-husband is released from prison, forcing Niina to set boundaries and take control of her life.
