Over the years, quirky French director Quentin Dupieux has wowed UEFF audiences with his twisted escapades in the films Deerskin (UEFF 2019) and Mandibles (UEFF 2021). Latest work Unbelievable But True is in some ways a little more restrained than the mentioned titles, but still stranger than most of what you’ve seen.
The premise is based on a couple, Alain and Marie, buying their dream home in a quiet suburb. The house has a very unique feature, namely a hole in the basement that leads you to the upper floor of the house – but 12 hours earlier. It is difficult and not entirely necessary to explain more than that, but we dare to promise that it is insanely entertaining.
