François Ozons’ latest is a sunny, nostalgic and amorous French coming of age film that inevitably brings to mind Luca Guadagninos’ international hit Call Me By Your Name. When 16-year-old Alexis is out sailing, his dinghy capsizes and he is rescued by the handsome David. It will be the starting point of an intense relationship that extends over an unforgettable summer. Summer of 85 is based on Aidan Chamber’s youth novel Dancing on My Grave from 1982 and is a picture that contains an contagious time-typical soundtrack, carefree youthful distraction, wonderful British au pair-French – but also deadly seriousness.
