In 1994, The Wicker Man was shown at Umeå Film Festival with Christopher Lee as guest. But the version that was available at the time was a cut-down variant. Now a new release – the Final Cut – is available. Years of persistent searching for cut material have resulted in a final version as the work was originally intended. When a young schoolgirl is reported missing, Inspector Howie is sent to a remote island in Scotland to investigate. At first glance, the small town seems to be an idyll, but he soon notices that most people have a lot to hide. The investigation leads Howie, who is a true Christian, into the arms of a secret cult society with an appetite for barbaric sex, pagan rites and human sacrifice. Will he succeed in preventing the cult’s murderous progress or will he himself be confronted with the ultimate horror… THE WICKER MAN ?! Christopher Lee considered “The Wicker Man” to be the best of all 200 films he starred in.
