Michał, a devoted father, successful entrepreneur, and loving husband, makes a tragic mistake that changes everything. The incident causes him to withdraw more and more — judged by those around him, and soon perhaps by the justice system as well, even though he has already received the harshest punishment of all.

Father had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year and is Slovakia’s official Oscar submission. The film impresses with its meticulous cinematography, featuring long takes that follow the characters through stairwells, elevators, and corridors, creating a palpably claustrophobic yet deeply intimate atmosphere.
