The Final Cut attracted a lot of laughter when it had the honor of opening this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It is a French remake of the 2017 Japanese cult thriller One Cut of the Dead, which turned the meta-meta-horror comedy genre upside down.

We meet a polished film crew struggling to complete a splashy horror film in a decommissioned military facility. But when the filming is interrupted by a real zombie attack, the director gives the instruction to the team: Let the camera roll!
