Unborn Biru wins Storspoven 2023
Every year, Umeå Film Festival awards the Storspoven film prize. It is a scholarship of SEK 25,000 given to the best film in the Northern Perspectives section, which contains films related to northern Sweden.
Of this year’s five nominated films, the winner was Unborn Biru by director Inga Elin Marakatt.
This year’s jury consisted of Patrik Eklund, Gunilla G Bresky och Olga Ruin. The grand prize was awarded during Friday evening’s award ceremony at the Umeå Film Festival. Unborn Biru will be screened again on Saturday 2 December together with all nominated films.
At the award ceremony, the festival also awarded the Rödspoven documentary film prize, a scholarship of SEK 10,000.
Of this year’s three Rödspoven-nominated films, the winner was Tautuktavuk / What We See by directors Lucy Tulugarjuk & Carol Kunnuk. The winner of Rödspoven will be shown once more during the festival, Sunday 3 December 19.30 at Folkets Bio Umeå.
