When the sculptor Claude Zoret gets the idea for his sculpture Vingarne, he also meets the young painter Eugène Mikael, who he thinks embodies his image of Ikarus. In the same vein, Zoret adopts Mikael, when he is the model for the sculpture.
When Zoret later portrays Princess Lucia de Zamikow, Mikael falls in love with her. The film is an intense and dramatic triangle drama which during UEFF is accompanied by the pianist Edward von Past.
Vingarne is usually considered the first known gay film in history and premiered at Röda Kvarn in Stockholm at the beginning of the 20th century. We will show the restored version of the film – Wings was a lost film for a long time, but it was found in the 1980s in Norway and could then be restored.
Filmen introduceras av Clara Gustafsson och Jan Göransson från Svenska Filminsitutet.
