In the northernmost parts of Sápmi lives the 18-year-old rapper Mihkku Laiti. Through the TV program Talang Finland, he charms an entire nation by going all the way to the final. The film follows his journey from the boy’s room in Utsjoki to live TV. A story about a young person on his way out into the world… Or should he stay?
The future is uncertain and he constantly vacillates between wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps as a reindeer herder or study at a university down south. But he holds fast to his Sami identity and cherishes it. Language, clothes and lifestyle are important to Mihkku – not least on stage.
