Starting this year, Ume\u00e5 European Film Festival introduces the new prize R\u00f6dspoven awarded to a documentary film focusing on a current and important topic. In 2021, films focusing on our climate will compete to be the first one to be awarded this prize. With the award, we want to draw attention to the documentary genre and also to current issues that we face in our time.<\/p>\n

R\u00f6dspoven or the black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) in English is a breeding bird that you sometimes can see in the county V\u00e4sterbotten in the north of Sweden, where the Ume\u00e5 European Filmfestival is located. The name of the prize is also in dialogue with the festival’s other prize Storspoven or Eurasian curlew (Numenius arquata) which is awarded to a film with a strong connection to northern Sweden.<\/p>\n

The prize is a collaboration with Ume\u00e5 Energi and the winner will be announced on Sunday the 28th of November at the screening venue Bildmuseet.<\/p>\n
