\nHere we are again! Finally, it is time for a film festival – Ume\u00e5 European Film Festival 2020. A year which, as you all know, is a very different year. So what does a film festival in a pandemic look like? Naturally, quite different to what we are used to. We have made extensive adjustments in how to practically manage the festival, in order to create a safe experience for you, the audience. This includes social distancing in the venues and careful scheduling of screenings to avoid crowding as well as making a selection of the program available on the streaming service Draken Film.<\/p>\n
\nBut the basic idea stays the same, we cannot stress enough the importance of shared film experiences – even on a smaller scale. We are also very proud to present this year\u2019s programme, from the excellent regional productions competing for the Storspoven in our section Northern Perspectives, to the several days of documentary film we present at V\u00e4sterbottens museum together with Sune Jonsson centre for documentary photography, along with all the cinematic treats we carefully selected for the sections Red Carpet, Panorama and Special Screenings.<\/p>\n
\nWe welcome you to a new edition of Ume\u00e5 European FIlm Festival! The cinematic arts deserve to be applauded, celebrated, acknowledged and, most of all, experienced, regardless if you are participating on location or via your computer, tablet or phone.<\/p>\n
