The film takes us to the northernmost part of Finnish Lapland, near the Three-Country Cairn, following the lives of the people who live and make their living there. It also depicts the meeting—and collision—between two cultures: the Sámi and the Finnish. Here, Sámi traditions and customary law are set against Finnish legislation, personified through the film’s two main characters: the district sheriff and the Sámi man Niila.

The screening is part of the program accompanying Bildmuseet’s exhibition Art and Truth-Telling, which can be seen on level 3. The pan-Sámi group Avant Joik references the film Skierri in their work Can We Reconcile?.
