Film + Games is a relaxed gathering for filmmakers, game developers, freelancers, screenwriters, animators, film and game students, or anyone who is simply interested in film and games. Each Film + Games event features a guest speaker who works at the intersection of both industries. The bar is open and we’ll serve a light dinner.

DISTRIBUTION FORUM

For the first time, we’re hosting a day focused on film distribution, where you’ll have the chance to meet distributors and gain insights from industry experts. Distribution Forum is organized by the project Kvarken Film Hub, with support from the EU programme Interreg Aurora.

During Work in Progress, we transform Mingla into a living room where filmmakers present and show material from a project they are currently working on. Grab a drink, socialize, and discover exciting new film projects in the making.

Spotlight is a full-day event aimed at those who work in film, study film, or are interested in filmmaking. You can take part in an engaging programme of talks and lectures, and in between, mingle and make new connections.

FILMMAKER MEETS FILMMAKER

We always close the film festival with a party — take the chance to meet new and old film friends, mingle, and celebrate the 2026 film year with us! The evening will also include the presentation of the Filmhjälten award and Umeå Film Festival’s short film prize, Storspoven.
