During this year’s film festival, we will present a screening of Knut Erik Jensen’s evocative film classic Stella Polaris in a completely new form, accompanied by a live soundtrack performed by musicians from the Norwegian and Swedish hardcore and metal scenes.
The film’s original score by Arne Nordheim will be replaced for this screening by an experimental soundtrack created by Carl Christian Lein Størmer together with musicians from the Nordic hardcore and metal scene. The line-up includes Johannes Persson and Christian Augustin from Cult of Luna, as well as Marvin Nygaard from Kvelertak.
Stella Polaris tells the story of life in a coastal community in Finnmark, Northern Norway. Through the eyes of a woman, we follow her journey from childhood into adulthood, witnessing the German occupation of Norway, the destruction of buildings and the rebuilding of Finnmark after the war. The film is partly a portrait of a fishing culture that was transformed and eventually disappeared, but also a story about love and the relationship to one’s home and place of belonging.
The event is presented in collaboration with the Tromsø International Film Festival, where the film concert premiered earlier this year.
Tickets on sale Monday, 24 August
The concert will take place at Vävenscenen Thursday 26th of november, start 21.00
