The plot takes place in Berlin in the 1930s, where the lively American singer Sally Bowles performs at the Kit Kat Klub. The film, based on the novel “Goodbye to Berlin” by Christopher Isherwood, skillfully balances between a glamorous cabaret portrayal and the seriousness of the time.
