‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire’ opens UEFF 2019
This year’s edition of Umeå European Film Festival opens with french director Céline Sciammas costume piece Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Céline Sciamma is previously known for internationally acclaimed films like Girlhood (2014) and Tomboy (2011). Her latest film Portrait of a Lady on Fire competed for this year’s Palm d’Or and was awarded for best screenplay at this year’s film festival in Cannes.
The festival also opens with a local short film, Ann Holmgren’s Nuit – a powerful and intimate portrait of a socially isolated woman who wants to be seen.
