This year’s Swedish Oscar entry Boy from Heaven is about the young fisherman Adam who gets the unique opportunity to study at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. It is a Sunni Muslim university with proud ancestry and great influence in the religious sphere of interest. When the head of the institution unexpectedly dies, Adam suddenly becomes a central piece of the puzzle in the internal power struggle that ensues – a power struggle that the Egyptian regime does everything to infiltrate.
Tarik Saleh (The Nile Hilton Incident) was awarded the screenplay prize at Cannes for Boy From Heaven, a relentlessly exciting political thriller in a rarely portrayed setting. Just like in The Nile Hilton Incident, Fares Fares has a central role, and in short stands for an excellent performance.
The program in its entirety will also be read on our website ueff.se from 5 pm on the 11th of November.
Welcome!
