(Svenska) Retrospektiv: Mia Engberg
We are proud to present one of the highlights during the Umeå European Film Festival 2022 – a retrospective of Mia Engberg.
Mia Engberg is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, producer and editor. She is active in Stockholm and is one of the active members of the production company Story. In 2020, she received her doctorate at Stockholm University of the Arts with the thesis The visual silence and she has previously studied directing at the Dramatic Institute 1994-1997.
With a background as a punk, activist and occupier, it is perhaps not surprising that themes such as political engagement, class perspective and equality recur in her work. She won a Golden Badge in 2014 for the documentary film Belleville Baby. During the Umeå European Film Festival 2022, we have selected some of her films, take the chance to immerse yourself in one of Sweden’s most interesting filmmakers.
