We are screening a short film package at Finnmark Flicker.

The short film package Life Beyond the City was screened during Umeå Film Festival 2025 and consists of four documentary stories that, in different ways, capture life, dreams, and identity. Here we meet people searching for new paths, drawing on their inner strength, sharing memories of borders and loss, and finding expression through music.

Along a national border in the Caucasus, we meet people who speak about the new border, how it feels, and how it affects them. We then meet Britt-Inger and her alter ego Signe, who invite us into their lives in Tornedalen. Anders takes us to the church in Teg, where he shows us the organ and talks about his relationship with the instrument and its music.

We also meet Linnea, who is training to become a truck driver. She teaches us to dare to dream and to be ourselves.

Together, the films in this program create a warm, curious, and multifaceted portrait of reality beyond the noise of the big city.
