Post Truth is the first feature-length documentary to have been created entirely with the help of AI. The film explores our relationship with technology and how we have arrived at a time when truth and reality seem to have lost their significance.

Through an abundance of information, images and cultural contradictions, the film portrays a present in which the boundary between what is real and what is fabricated is becoming increasingly difficult to discern. The film uses the same AI-generated language and imagery that it seeks to understand and critique, thereby becoming part of the phenomenon it examines. Post Truth raises questions about how we perceive reality – and what happens when we can no longer be certain of what we see.

The screening at Bildmuseet will be followed by a conversation between Kalle Eriksson, postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology and the Centre for Digital Social Research (DIGSUM) at Umeå University, whose 2024 doctoral thesis analysed the underlying ideas shaping the Swedish political debate on the automation of work, and Mia Rogersdotter Gran, Artistic Director of Umeå Film Festival.
